On Friday Washington Capitals fans not only saw the team lose 0-5 against the Edmonton Oilers but also witnessed T.J. Oshie crashing onto the ice in a horrifying accident. The head coach Spencer Carbery later informed that the forward won’t be joining the team on their road trip games for a while.
While the forward may be away from the front line, his presence is still missed by everyone on his team and the fans. Carbery also stated that no one can deny how much value he has added to the team and how his little plays and assists have cost the team their victory.
“He’s done a lot of good things for our team and a big reason why we are winning a lot of games. Yeah, it might not be in the game sheet every night, but I see it on the film.”Caps head coach Spencer Carbery as per RMNB.
Looking back at Adam Johnson’s spine-chilling incident, the NHL fans were visibly worried for T.J. Oshie as he has a history of suffering from concussions. From 2018 till now, he has suffered from five concussion incidents on ice, according to the RMNB report.
To ease the fan’s worry, Oshie’s wife Lauren Oshie, updated positive news of the 36-year-old on her Instagram story. She captioned stating,
“TJ’s doing much better this morning and instead of traveling with the team he will be recovering at home.”
NHL fans react as T.J. Oshie gets TRUCKED by Mattias Ekholm during Capitals vs Oilers game
T.J. Oshie’s eerie incident took place during the 2nd period of Friday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers. The forward collided hard with Oilers defenceman Mattias Ekholm on the blue line. The clash itself is being debated by fans. Some say it’s an accident as Oshie came in front of Ekholm while others call out for a penalty.
Oshie seemingly hit on his head during the clash with Ekholm resulting in him dropping on the ice with a thud. He lay still for a couple of minutes as John Carlson waved toward their head athlete trainer Jason Serbus to attend to him. T.J. Oshie remained blanked out on the ice as fans got scared and concerned for the player.
As the forward was taken down to the locker room with the help of his teammate and trainer, the fans could be heard chanting “Let’s go Oshie” as a form of encouragement. He too waved to the fans to ease their heartbeat while the team went on to lose the game 0-5 against the Oilers.
Mattias Ekholm also appeared to reach out to Oshie after the hit, and is assumed he said “sorry” for hitting the forward. Ekholm was not issued a penalty, much to the fan’s surprise. T.J. Oshie has recorded only 1 goal and 1 assist so far in the season after appearing for 17 games during the 2023-24 season.
