With 5 points in 9 games this season, Washington Capitals forward T. J. Oshie gets sidelined indefinitely with a lower-body injury. The team was already suffering from forward depth, and Oshie’s condition made things worse. The Capitals are still holding on, stating they have faced such crisis situations before too.
Oshie got hurt during Saturday’s game against the Nashville Predators, where the team won 3-0. On Monday, Oshie and defenceman John Carlson couldn’t participate due to both suffering lower-body injuries, with the latter being day-to-day. It a was shootout match against the Carolina Hurricanes where the team lost 3-2.
Forward Lars Eller said, “It feels a little like last year”. “We were always missing five, six guys in the lineup. Now we’re facing a similar scenario, so it’s not foreign to us. But we’re going to miss them.”

T. J. Oshie underwent core surgery this summer
Last season Oshie played for 44 regular-season games while acquiring 25 points with 11 goals and 14 assists. He underwent core surgery this summer. Due to multiple injuries and illnesses, Oshie missed out on 38 regular-season games. The seasons are sure not going easy on him.
Coach Peter Laviolette said, “He’s been through it with some injuries”. “It’s going to weigh on you mentally sometimes too. Then the physical part of rehabilitating and getting back in the lineup. So, there’s a lot that goes with it. He’s a pretty positive person by nature, and he will work hard to get back.”
While Carlson recorded 6 points with 2 goals and 4 assists in 9 games this season and has 599 points with 134 goals and 465 assists in 896 regular-season. He is the first defenceman and the fifth Capitals player to soon reach the milestone of 600 points.
