This past weekend, the National Hockey League (NHL) hosted it’s All-Star game from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. The event included performances from several celebrities including Justin Bieber, The KID Laroi and even The Reklaws.

Before any major event, the sporting league follows the tradition of performing the country’ national anthem they are in. The Reklaws, an independent country music duo of siblings were given the task of performing the Canadian national anthem, ‘O Canada‘ in front of a jam-packed Scotiabank Arena.

Originally hailing from Ontario, The Reklaws consist of siblings Stuart and Jessica Walker. They have taken the Canadian country music by storm since they started producing music in 2012. During their career, they have achieved some significant milestones.

This time the got another chance to shine by performing the Canadian national anthem before the NHL showpiece event. However, the audiences in the crowd and those watching from home have not been thrilled with their performance, leading to widespread criticism. Fans diss The Reklaws on social media for their performance at All-Star game

The All-Star games are considered a major attraction. Fans are always eager to tune into watch some of their favorite players put their rivalry aside and join hands to perform together. This event usually features some artist performances including one singing the national anthem.

This year NHL invited The Reklaws, to perform Canada’s national anthem, “O Canada“. This rendition of the siblings though has not met with positive reactions from the NHL community.

Over the years gone by, there have been several national anthem renditions that have been criticized. This one turned out to be no different as fans voiced their frustrations towards The Reklaws.

Fans quickly took to X and showed their disappointment towards them. One user termed it as “The worst performance ever“. One other user boldly asked, “Did they even rehearse?“.

While the Reklaws may be facing the heat of from social media users, there were some performances that were praised by the fans. Renowned artist Justin Bieber, stole the show with an evergreen performance. He was joined by The Kid LAROI, who once again partnered with him to perform their hit “Stay”.

As for the NHL All-Star game itself, Team Matthews, led by Toronto Maple Leafs’ star Auston Matthews, emerged as 7-4 victors against Team McDavid of Connor McDavid in the 3-on-3 mini-tournament final. Matthews was later named the MVP of the event, becoming the second straight hometown MVP after Matthew Tkachuk won it last year in Atlanta, Florida.
