Tim Stutzle
Forward Tim Stutzle clearly stated his message through his recent $66.8 million contract signing with the Ottawa Senators. He admitted that he wanted to commit to himself and to fans, that he’s going to stick with the team for a long time and participate in the next Stanley Cup run with them.
He noted, “It’s just the team we have and I’m super excited about that. I want to show the team that I’m committed to staying here long-term. I think that’s really important too. It doesn’t really matter to play one more year and maybe get some more money. It’s just about playing with the team and with the guys and I just want to play my best hockey.”

GM Pierre Dorion and Tim Stutzle discuss their plans after the signup
His new contract will be activated from the 2023-24 season for the next 8 years with an annual average value of $8.35 million. Negotiations regarding his contract started in early August, but it was on Wednesday that the team announced his signup.
Senators general manager Pierre Dorion stated, “This is a great day for a franchise signing probably our most skilled forward, a really key component in, I think, our future success, to eight years”. “He wants to focus on playing hockey. He wants to focus on winning.”
He further continued, “You look at every part of his game: He’s competitive, he’s dynamic, he’s got speed, he’s got skill, he’s great hockey instincts.” In 2020-21 Tim scored 29 points with 12 goals and 17 assists in 53 games as a rookie NHL player and 87 points with 34 goals and 53 assists in 132 NHL games.
Upon finalizing his contract Tim stated, “I knew even if I wouldn’t have signed this year, there would be pressure for me. I always expect myself to be the best hockey player I can be, and I’ve been working really hard during the summer, so I think I’m ready for the year. I think it worked out pretty good and I feel better than I ever felt.”
Looking at the team roster with Tim Stutzle, Josh Norris, Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson, and Thomas Chabot, we can say Ottawa Senators really have a shot at the Playoffs next season, if they can together pull and better up the team.
Dorion noted, “I try not to get too high when things are high and I try not to get too low when things are low”. “The games aren’t played on paper. The games are played on the ice.” Fans are excited to see what game the team pulls up this regular season. For now, they sure are giving the vibes of being a strong contender in the long run.
