Jacob Trouba becomes the new captain of New York Rangers

Twitter has been jam-packed with congratulatory wishes since defenceman Jacob Trouba has been announced as the captain of the New York Rangers on Tuesday. The 28-year-old has become the Rangers’ first captain since defenceman Ryan McDonagh, who got traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 26, 2018. He is being celebrated as the 28th team captain in history. Different members of the team also jumped into the opportunity to wish him for his grand promotion.

Trouba commented, “It’s a huge honor, and it’s something that means something, especially here in this organization, with its history and past players who were captains before me”. “As a kid, I grew up watching Leetch and Messier, Drury and Jagr. Those names were all prominent to me as a kid and then you come here and learn about the history of the guys before them. You see pictures, you see jerseys of this place and it’s now my turn to carry that legacy on for those guys.”
