Mel Pearson reported for toxic behavior
The head coach of the Michigan Men’s Hockey Program, Mel Pearson was charged for having a toxic demeanor which resulted in fostering negative team culture. He has been accused of engaging in several despicable actions according to the findings of an anonymous team survey and investigation report.
According to The Athletics Katie Strang, several players and team staff have held Pearson accountable for behaviors like, providing false information on their COVID 19 tracking forms, misleading the recruits on the amount of scholarship money they will receive if they commit to joining the team, and allegedly calling a player “Jew”.
“Need to be removed” – Twitter demands the expulsion of Mel Pearson

As per the survey report, Mel Pearson didn’t act accordingly when bringing the charge against Michigan’s director of hockey operations in a note of mistreatment of female staff members, as noted on thehockeynews.com. He retaliated and forced 2021 team captain Strauss Mann to “address and improve the team’s culture”.
When The Athletic tried reaching him for clarifications of the allegations against him, he didn’t respond nor reach out to them. When asked about the investigation in February, he confidently stated to The Michigan Daily, “I feel very confident that the allegations will be proved wrong.” Twitter is fuming with statements to remove him immediately from the team.
Pearson didn’t hesitate to comment that he didn’t know what accusations, or mistreatment the players were talking about. Furthermore, he even said he never saw the director of hockey operations behave unruly towards the female staff. He even said that Strauss leaving the team had “nothing to do with any friction” between himself and the goaltender.
