The Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau has planned for the next National Hockey League (NHL) season with the team’s top left winger and alternate captain J.T. Miller. The 29-year-old Miller set NHL career highs in goals (32), assists (67) and points (99) in 80 games last year.
He is entering the final season of a five-year $26.25 million contract (an average annual value of $5.25 million) he signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 26, 2018. Fans are excited to learn of the news and are celebrating his upcoming time with the team.
“He’s a Canuck, and the other stuff I can’t do anything about,” the Vancouver coach told SiriusXM NHL Network Radio on Thursday. He said he’s glad that he’s a Canuck as the coach himself considers Miller the No.1 center and a great hockey player in NHL.
“J.T. is the leader of our group” – Bruce Boudreau comments on JT. Miller
Earlier, the Ohio native Miller had been the subject of trade speculation leading up to the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline on March 21. However, the Canucks decided against the same and retained him with them sitting four points out of a playoff berth on that date as they ended up behind the Nashville Predators for the second wild card into the playoffs from the Western Conference.
Bruce Boudreau said, Miller “is the leader of our group” and he’s sure that he’s sure that his extraordinary performance will continue to surge in the future. He believes Miller will be an asset to the team and continue being “the leader of that group against this year.” He’s not only a team favorite, but also a fan favorite in NHL.
