‘Changes made at the top’ Will Kyle Okposo furnish Buffalo Sabres’ strength?
Kyle Okposo
The Buffalo Sabres named a change in leadership in the form of Kyle Okposo at the weekend. The veteran, now 34 years old has entered the ultimate season of his contract that was a better part of the decade (7 years to be precise). In his penultimate season, Okposo was in the rink for a total of 74 games contributing 21 goals and 24 assists.
Jack Eichel was at the helm for the Sabres until his trade to Vegas Golden Knights in November of last year. The Buffaloes haven’t had the best of fortune as they have failed to qualify for the Stanley Cup for 11 seasons in a row. They will be looking to change that scenario this season.

Kyle Okposo – the man with the ‘Golden Skates’ ?
Kyle Okposo was full of confidence and vigour after being given this opportunity. On talking with the reporters, Kyle said – “It’s left a really special place in my heart where I want this place to succeed.”
“I know how difficult it’s been at times for sports fans in this city and for the people in this city because so much of life is connected to the (NFL’s Buffalo) Bills and the Sabres”.
Kyle has always possessed leadership qualities according to Kevyn Adams, general manager for the Sabres. He says – “It’s impossible to overstate what Kyle has meant to this group; he is patient, he is a lifelong learner, he is levelheaded, and most of all, he is proud to be a Buffalo Sabre. When times get difficult, Kyle knows when to speak up, and when he does, the team takes it to heart”.
Okposo seems to be at home here in Buffalo. His family supports him and enjoys their life in this part of the States. The fans really get behind him and he finds solace in them. He’s geared up to give his all in his supposedly last season at the Sabres. Whether there’s a contract extension for Okposo in the future is yet to be seen.
