As the reports of his contract being likely to be extended broke out, several fans voiced their thoughts against it. Some were left skeptical about the huge amount of money involved in this deal.

Nylander though will not be worrying about that as the Swedish star can now look forward to the season without any more worries about his next deal. He would take to his Instagram account and share a picture of himself while being on a walk with his dog with the caption, “we staying“.

The news about his contract before the Maple Leafs take on the San Jose Sharks again. This led to several outlets storming across the Ford Centre, the training center for the Maple Leafs to catch a word with Nylander.

Nice to know it’s done and I know where I’m going to stay for the next eight years. I was talking to a friend about going home and I was referring to Toronto without even thinking about it. This is home now, the longest I’ve ever spent in one place. I want to achieve something special here.
