“Oh Brad stick to hockey”- Fans brutally trolls Marchand after his futile humour attempt against Carolina Hurricanes

Brad Marchand

Boston Bruins left winger and alternate captain Brad Marchand’s hot streak reached yet another level on Wednesday afternoon after the game against Carolina Hurricanes. This took place after the 33-year-old saw his six-game point streak come to an end in Tuesday’s loss at the TD Garden.

He ended up firing on all cylinders on social media. Earlier, the Hurricanes (26-8-2) crushed their opponents and had every right to be boastful following a 7-1 win, including a five-goal onslaught in the first period.

The Carolina team didn’t shy away from trolling the Bruins and Marchand with a punny comment on Twitter. Their official handle wrote: “L stands for Lamborghini’”

However, the Canadian professional ice hockey player put Carolina right back in its place, reminding them where they stand in the NHL’s financial hierarchy. For those who don’t know, the Hurricanes are currently ranked as the sixth-least valuable franchise in the league by Forbes in 2021.

Moreover, they do nothing to increase the league’s revenue and force players to pay a portion of their salary into escrow under the collective bargaining agreement. The players pay 17.2 per cent of their salaries into escrow in the ongoing season, down from 20 percent from the 2020-21 edition.

Marchand tweeted: “You’re still the reason we pay 20% in escrow.”

However, the winning team yet another came up with a fitting reply as they wrote: “Lol we just tweet Brad.”
