Over the years gone by, the National Hockey League (NHL) has produced several great talents. The likes of great Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby have mesmerized the fans of hockey with their playing style. This duo was greatly influenced by Mario Lemieux. This is enough to state he is one of the all-time greats when it comes to ice hockey.

The 57-year Canadian spent 17 years at the Pittsburgh Penguins before hanging up his stakes in 2006. Following his first retirement in 1997, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He would return three years later and carried on for six more years before calling it a day. Nicknamed “Super Mario” after the fictional character, he has since then continued his trade with the Penguins by becoming their owner. Fans are now curious about where he lives.

Due to his ongoing business dates as owner, Lemieux spends most of his time in Pittsburgh. This does not mean he does not have a house. He is reported to have owned one of the most beautiful homes in the form of a castle. Lemieux later posted this property for sale for a fee of $22 million.

Lemieux has been married to Nathalie Asselin in 1996. The couple have three daughters and a son in their life. His son Austin was born prematurely but has since stayed healthy. He also played hockey like his legendary father at the college level at Arizona State University.

Where does Mario Lemieux live?

As mentioned above, Lemieux is currently residing with his family in Pittsburgh. As the owner, the responsibilities on the shoulders of Lemieux are huge. So his home will also be huge. The hockey great is right now living in the suburb of Sewickley. This place is reported to be 10 minutes away from the city of Pittsburgh, keeping him connected with the city.

Where did Mario Lemieux grew up?

Mario Lemieux was born on October 5, 1965, in the popular city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was the third son of Pierrate and Jean-Guy Lemieux. His father worked as an engineer while her mother took care of household things. His love for hockey was seen at an early age. “Super Mario” started playing the game at the age of three with his elder brothers Alain and Richard. Alain too played in the NHL with three teams.

He would go on to play in the local Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and appeared for his country at the World Junior Championships in 1983. He was drafted in 1984 by the Penguins, though he was not so sure about the team back then. Looking back now, Lemiuex probably has no regrets about the decision that took place all those years back.

Currently, Lemieux and his family reside in this magnificent home. This property was built way back in 1910 and so it serves as a monumental structure. It is spread across 12,000 square feet and contains seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The Penguins owner is reported to have splashed a sum in the region of $4 million to get his hands on this.

The house is guarded by a tall hedge and is made of classical bricks. This huge property is two story home with a total of eighteen rooms in it. Other facilities of this property include a vintage basement, a wide garage, a swimming pool, and four fireplaces.

Chateau Fleur de Lys, Quebec, Canada

This property is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful places owned by an athlete. This enormous property is spread across 17,000 square feet. It is located near Mont-Tremblant. This house comes with 50 rooms and has several modern amenities in it. It has 17 fireplaces, a huge spa, a tennis court for enjoyment, a home theater, a gym, and two guest bedrooms.

This property though has been on sale since 2018. Lemieux listed this property for a whopping $22 million. He and his wife got hold of his place in 2007 but are not living there due to Lemieux’s day-to-day activities in Pittsburgh.
