Rusev and Lana’s real-life relationship was used multiple times for storyline purposes during their time in WWE. No one can forget the iconic kiss between Bobby Lashley and the Ravishing Russian on WWE TV. However, years before this incident, the then-couple was involved in a love rectangle featuring Nic Nemeth (then Dolph Ziggler) and Summer Rae.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Nemeth revealed that rather than rewarding him with victories or championships, Vince McMahon rewarded him by making him kiss CJ Perry. He revealed that he was once in a room with Lana and Rusev, where Vinnie Mac told them about the idea.
Nemeth revealed that he had to practice kissing Lana right in front of Rusev. Meanwhile, Vince McMahon watched them while writing things down with a pencil. He also highlighted the differences in love angles between Hollywood and wrestling. While acting, people ensure that all parties involved are comfortable with the scene. However, this was not the case in WWE during the 2010s. They were simply told what to do and had to perform.
I think Vince [McMahon]’s rewarding me instead of giving me winning matches or championships was to be like, ‘Hey, he’s with this girl now.’ I think that was my reward, was that I got a girlfriend at work.

McMahon would eventually throw a fit and scrap this entire angle when Miro and CJ Perry publicly announced their real-life engagement. He made the ex-couple an on-screen duo once again, and Nemeth was put with Summer Rae. Unfortunately, their marriage would come to an end after spending 7 years together.
Nic Nemeth will make his return at TNA Sacrifice
On a recent episode of TNA iMPACT!, Joe Hendry successfully defended his TNA Championship against Jake Something. Chaos ensued after the match, and both Nic Nemeth and Santino Marella were seen at ringside. Amidst the confusion, the former TNA Champion accidentally superkicked the on-screen director of authority.
Following the incident, Nic Nemeth and his brother approached Santino Marella with an apology. Ryan Nemeth also backed him up, saying that accidents happen. However, the former Intercontinental Champion said that they almost broke his jaw. He could not have such behavior flying around on his show. Thus, he suspended the 44-year-old for four weeks without pay.
On the 20th February 2025 edition of iMPACT!, Ryan Nemeth told the world that his brother would serve his full suspension. Furthermore, he would make his return at the upcoming TNA Sacrifice PPV, scheduled for March 14th. Nic Nemeth has not been announced for a match on the show as of now, and it would be interesting to see what he would do at the show.
