According to the latest batch of rumours, Nicholas Pepe is willing to leave Arsenal if any club is willing to pay his wages. Arsenal will be able to use the money he generates to sign Houssem Aouar. Mikel Arteta seems to not favour the player too much as evidenced by the lack of playing time and starts.
Different arrival and departure
Nicholas Pepe arrived with much fanfare when he was signed by Arsenal for 79 million euros. He was expected to be the third member of the triumvirate and join Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. His first few games were good and he was the first player to dribble past Virgil Van Dijk in over a season and half. However Pepe was never able to replicate the form he had for Lille. He couldn’t show anyone why Arsenal broke the bank for his signature.
Now he seems to be excess to Mikel Arteta’s needs since Willian and Bukayo Saka have arrived. Arsenal could be looking to sell him in order to avoid paying his wages and free their bank account. His sale could generate the necessary funds to sign Houssem Aouar. Houssem Aouar is a long term target and hopefully they can look to partner him with Thomas Partey and Dani Ceballos.
Arsenal will also be looking to offload Shkodaran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos since they’re also liabilities.
