“After much deliberation I have decided,” 37-year-old star teases coming out of retirement to face top WWE official
37-year-old WWE star may finally step back into the squared circle after his retirement to have a dream match with top WWE official.
Nick Aldis teases coming out of retirement to face Adam Pearce (via WWE)
Nick Aldis was named the General Manager of SmackDown by Triple H last October. Nobody expected the former NWA Champion to take up a managerial role. He was pretty early in his career, still at a young age. Thus, most people expected him to be an in-ring worker. However, it appears that fans may finally get to see him step into the squared circle in WWE.
Nick Aldis recently penned a message on his X account addressing a video by his Raw counterpart, referring to Adam Pearce. He did not directly address the matter at hand of facing the Raw GM in a match. Instead, he left an ambiguous message, meaning that fans will have to wait to see how this situation unfolds. Furthermore, he posted a gym selfie showcasing that he was still physically fit to put on a great match like he used to.
Adam Pearce recently responded to a fan who asked him if he would ever consider stepping back into the ring to face Aldis. The 46-year-old brought up the fact that they were two of the greatest NWA champions of the modern era. Now, they are each other’s direct competition from a managerial point of view. However, the Raw GM cut off the video right as he was about to give his final answer of stepping back into the ring.
After much deliberation I have decided to respond to this post by my Raw counterpart. We both enjoyed a decorated tenure in our careers before WWE; there is no doubt you & I respect the legacy and tradition of our industry. So you're asking if I would step in the ring with you?... Time will tell.Nick Aldis on X
These posts could also be a work by the WWE to tease a feud between the two general managers. If WWE wishes to go towards a more traditional ‘Raw vs. SmackDown’ approach for this year’s Survivor Series PLE, pitting the general managers of both brands against each other in Vancouver could be a great idea.
Pearce retired from wrestling in December 2014 and decided to use his talents in a more backstage role. WWE eventually hired him as an on-screen authority figure. The 46-year-old is still in good shape and could easily put on a stellar match if he wished to. Meanwhile, WWE made Aldis the General Manager of SmackDown at just 36 years old. He has even not properly announced his retirement from in-ring competition.
Chelsea Green wants to be the special guest referee in the match between Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis
The prospect of Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis facing off has excited many members of the WWE Universe. However, no one seems more overjoyed than Chelsea Green. She re-posted the SmackDown GM’s reply and said that she wanted to be the special guest referee if the match ever ended up taking place.
Chelsea Green has had an odd relationship with both of the main roster managers. While she was a superstar on Raw, it was a weekly occurrence for her to annoy Scrap Daddy with her demands. In fact, Pearce was overjoyed after The Hot Mess got drafted over to SmackDown earlier this year.
Green’s relationship with Aldis is not too different. She frequently shows up in front of his office with her demands. The Mag Daddy also seems equally irritated by her behavior as his Raw counterpart.
