After operating swiftly on a 17-game schedule for three seasons, the NFL is thinking of adding another game down the road and starting an 18-game schedule thereupon. Given the amount of money the league makes each season, extending the league would sound like a reasonable and well-revised decision.

However, not everyone agrees. As much as fans would like each regular season to be longer, the NFL players don’t seem to be on the same page. Recently, San Francisco 49ers’ star defensive end Nick Bosa gave an unfiltered reaction to the NFL’s plan to add ‘one more game.’

I don't know how many games they could just keep adding. I don't know why one more needs to be added. But it's not my job.
said Nick Bosa while shaking his head when asked about the 18-game schedule in discussion.

Bosa further stated that the 16-game schedule was good, but the current 17-game is also fine. He also joked that the offseason program would have to be shortened if it kept getting extended.

In case the NFL went ahead with the 18-game schedule, commissioner Roger Goodell had said, they would most likely replace one preseason game with the 18th regular season game in the future. Before implementing the current 17-game schedule, the NFL followed the 16-game format for nearly half a century, since 1978.

Nick Bosa takes it easy in 49ers’ OTAs

Bosa hasn’t been really active in the 49ers’ organized team activity, which started this week. This marks a crucial time for the defensive lineman as he spends training in Florida before returning for mandatory training in Santa Clara.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan highlighted how this is the first normal offseason for Bosa with no COVID, torn injury, or contract stuff.

And I think the one year that it was like that, he came to a few OTAs; didn’t come to all of them.
Kyle Shanahan said

Though Shanahan pointed out that it was just the case for the minicamp and nonetheless, he is glad to see Bosa in the first week. While the defensive player making fewer appearances, the Niners are also missing some of their star players such as Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jauan Jennings
