The Nick Chubb deal is already turning out to be a big headache for the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland natives respected Chubb’s commitment to the city’s football and stuck around even when the club failed to find ways to get out of the quarterback hellhole.
Chubb remained a free agent for so long that many Browns fans believed that general manager Andrew Berry would give him a cut-price contract and lead the team. However, the writing was already on the wall. Berry hinted early in the offseason that the 4x Pro Bowler’s skill set was no longer required.
The Browns drafted college football champion Ohio State’s Quinshon Judkins, and Jerome Ford agreed to take about a 50% pay cut to $1.75 million guaranteed to remain with the team. Chubb’s door in Cleveland closed despite his workout videos clearly hinting that the 29-year-old wanted another shot.
However, Berry announced that it’s unlikely that Chubb will be back for the 2025 season.
I wouldn’t rule anything out, but I would say it’s probably increasingly unlikely. I’d say maybe a return is less likely, at least in the short term, with us right now.

A few clubs contacted the Browns for a trade. One of them turned out to be the Houston Texans. Chubb viewed the AFC South franchise as a contender and opted to sign for them instead of the others, like the Saints.

Browns fans vent anger on Andrew Berry for allowing Nick Chubb to sign for the Texans for a low salary
The Shedeur Sanders saga kept the Browns fans thinking too much about Chubb’s next destination. However, there was a social media uproar after the Browns refused to re-sign the former second-round pick.

The frustration reached new heights after Browns fans learned about Chubb’s new deal with the Texans. He will only make a meager $2.5 million compared to the $12 million per year extension he signed in 2021.

Kenny Pickett
Ogbo Okorronkwo
Jordan Hicks
Dustin Hopkins
All underperformed last year and will make more than that on the Browns this year….but god forbid Andrew Berry couldn't give Nick Chubb 2.5M and one more year to prove he's still got it..
Too pricey for Jerry Jones I guess
