Nick Chubb’s time with the Cleveland Browns is coming to an end. He is set to share a locker room with CJ Stroud, Joe Mixon, and Nico Collins at the Houston Texans.

Chubb is the present-day Andrew Luck. The fans love him for his tenacity and never-give-up attitude.

Injuries kept Chubb from reaching the same heights as Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry. His boxing match with injuries began in college.

Chubb suffered a ‘grotesque’ knee injury while playing for Georgia against Tennessee in 2015. Five years later, the 29-year-old tore his MCL, and two years after that, Steelers DB Minkah Fitzpatrick injured the same knee that gave out in college.

In 2022, Chubb was last seen rushing for over 1,000 yards (302 carries for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns). Since aggravating his knee, he has only played 10 games, recording just over 500 yards and three touchdowns.

Chubb will have a fresh start in Texas. According to reports by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Texans are waiting to complete the paperwork and the physical before the minicamp.

Browns fans are not happy with the team releasing Nick Chubb

Chubb remaining a free agent confused everyone. A franchise like the Browns needs fan-favorite athletes on the roster to fill the stadium. The 4x Pro Bowl rusher was undeniably one of the players Browns fans bought tickets to see.

The Browns brass gave Chubb a three-year, $36 million extension back in 2021. They restructured his contract in April 2024, lowering his cap hit from $15.85 million to $6.275 million.

Despite missing playing time, Chubb wanted to remain with the Browns.

What’s amazing to me is how much support I had from the city of Cleveland. I know I’m not a guy who says a lot, but I do read the comments. I saw how much love you guys showed for me. In the NFL these days, that’s rare. It seemed like at times Browns fans were the only ones who weren’t seeing it as ‘just a business‘.

However, Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski suddenly felt that releasing Chubb was better than giving him a new contract. Cleveland natives and Browns fans all over the country disagreed with the brass’s decision.

Texans weren’t the only team interested in signing Chubb. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed the New Orleans Saints as a potential destination.

Chubb will share the backfield with Mixon, Dameon Pierce, Woody Marks, Dare Ogunbowale, and JJ Taylor.
