Nick Foles was forever considered a backup quarterback at best. But that backup went on to cement his name in NFL history books with an incredible victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Along with that win, a Super Bowl MVP award ensured he is considered by the Philadelphia Eagles faithful as one of their greats.
That Super Bowl LII went down in history as one of the great ones. Not just because it saw a backup quarterback win in the biggest stage of all, but it was also against that Patriots, known to be the best team in the league that decade.
Along with being the best team in the league, the New England Patriots had a reputation of cheating. They were embroiled in a few controversies in their history, with head coach Bill Belichick orchestrating two of them.
The Philadelphia Eagles, though, just like the rest of the NFL, felt that the Patriots could do something similar again. With that in mind, Nick Foles revealed how his team prepared for Super Bowl LII while on Pardon My Take.

Foles’ words go to prove that every team was wary when facing the New England Patriots in a knockout game. They had to go to great lengths to ensure ‘Spygate’ did not result in a loss. The Eagles went on to famously win their first and only Super Bowl to date in their franchise history.
Nick Foles became part of Eagles folklore with Super Bowl LII win
Nick Foles entered Super Bowl LII along with his Philadelphia Eagles as the underdogs. They even took that underdog mentality to heart as some players donned dog masks coming out of the tunnel. But by the end of the first half, the underdogs showed that they meant business.
Foles threw for one touchdown and LeGarrette Blount ran in for another to give them a sizeable lead. All that while the Eagles defense kept Tom Brady at bay and the New England Patriots could only muster up a couple of field goals.
But then, their defense intercepted Foles to help their offense get another chance, which they converted into a touchdown. With the lead down to three, Foles then had the courage to tell head coach Doug Pederson that they should try the now famous ‘Philly Special’.
Foles caught the one-yard pass and that play went on to be not only part of Eagles folklore but also as one of the best plays in Super Bowl history. However, Tom Brady and the Bill Belichick led Patriots were not to let it go.

They came back to score three straight touchdowns, which the Eagles could not match. With the Patriots threatening to take the lead, the Eagles sacked and forced a fumble out of Brady. That led to a lead extending field goal, and the Eagles thwarted a Brady Hail Mary to win their first ever Super Bowl and send Nick Foles into their history books.
