Nick Kyrgios once again took a brutal dig at Iga Swiatek due to her doping scandal. The Pole, in a podcast, recalled how she had to deal with uncertainty when she learned that she failed a doping test.
Swiatek was consuming melatonin to deal with issues related to sleep and jet lag. As melatonin was contaminated, Swiatek had to pay the price. She was provisionally suspended during which, she had provided details to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) about how she was contaminated and waited for the verdict.
In the end, the ITIA imposed only a one-month ban which didn’t affect her schedule much. Because of the three-week provisional suspension, the 23-year-old missed three tournaments on the Asian swing, came back and played in the WTA Finals and Billie Jean King Cup, then served her ban.
This sparked a huge controversy as ITIA was accused of preferential treatment because of the fact that Swiatek, not only was banned for one month but was allowed to play the two tournaments when she should have been serving her ban. Kyrgios is one of her staunch critics, and when he heard about what Swiatek was saying in her defense, he accused her of playing the victim card.

Nick Kyrgios makes scathing remark on Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek, on Sunday (January 5), had a huge task on her shoulder. After Poland’s defeat at the 2024 United Cup to Germany in the final, Swiatek this time wanted her team to finally win the prestigious title. Poland, however, lost both the singles matches.
Swiatek suffered a 6-4, 6-4 defeat to Coco Gauff, while Hubert Hurkacz was defeated by Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(4). After losing the first set against Gauff, Swiatek was seen with her Roland Garros notebook. When tennis journalist Bastien Fachan shared the picture on X, Nick Kyrgios noticed the tweet and took a scathing jibe at Swiatek.

Kyrgios made his comeback after a long injury layoff at the 2025 Brisbane International but had a disappointing campaign. He was defeated in the first round in singles, and in doubles, he and Novak Djokovic were defeated in the second round.
