Nick Kyrgios has often stated his intention of winning a Grand Slam title in the future. However, when he was recently asked to choose between $20 million and a Major title, he made a surprising pick.
The Aussie made this declaration during a conversation with American trio Jack Sock, Sam Querrey, and Steve Johnson. Kyrgios has won seven ATP titles in his career most recently at the Citi Open in 2022.
While he has won a Grand Slam, it came in the doubles category. At the 2022 Australian Open, the 29-year-old won the doubles title alongside his childhood friend Thanasi Kokkinakis. He then came close to winning his first singles Major at Wimbledon that year.
Kyrgios was denied by Novak Djokovic in the final, which he lost 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6(3)-7. He has failed to reach another Slam final since then and has been sidelined for over a year due to injuries. The 29-year-old has now stated that he would happily choose $20 million over a singles Grand Slam title.
