Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios recently reacted on X to the Harriet Dart deodorant controversy. Dart made headlines during her opening round match at the 2025 Open de Rouen when she made an unusual request during a break. The Brit asked the umpire if her opponent, Lois Boisson, could put on deodorant, as she was “smelling really bad”. The moment was caught by court-side microphones and went viral soon.

At the time, Dart, ranked 62, was already losing badly to Boisson, ranked 303. Boisson took just 28 minutes to bagel her opponent in the first set, despite making just her first WTA Tour appearance of the season following an injury setback.

Dart had clearly grown frustrated during the second. It was during a changeover here that Dart had made this unusual ‘deodorant’ request. The 28-year-old faced a lot of backlash for this remark, especially as she went on to lose to her opponent 6-0, 6-3. Nick Kyrgios called Dart’s behavior “wild”.

Boisson later responded to Dart’s remark in a hilarious manner. The 21-year-old mocked by sharing a picture of herself holding some Dove deodorant and posted the image to her Instagram story alongside the caption “@Dove apparently need a collab.”

Fans appreciated Boisson for her sense of humor. Dart also later issued an apology on her Instagram story regarding her distasteful remark. She called it a “heat-of-the-moment comment” that she truly regrets. Dart also added that she has a lot of respect for Lois and how she competed that day.

Great Britain finished top of Group F after 2-1 victories over both Germany and the Netherlands, concluding with a doubles decider in their final match. This result means they will progress to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen, China, from 16-21 September. The other teams that’ll play in the finals include hosts China, defending champions Italy, Japan, the USA, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Spain.

This is the third time in four years that Great Britain has reached this stage, and they have also reached the semi-finals on two separate occasions. Prior to that, Great Britain had gone nearly 20 years without getting this far.
