After Brandon Nakashima and Emma Raducanu‘s third-round win at the Miami Open, Nick Kyrgios took a dig at the critics of the Brit. Nakashima battled past David Goffin, who shocked World No.3 and 2022 Miami Open champion Carlos Alcaraz in the second round earlier this week.

The American, 31st seed in the tournament, will square off against last year’s runner-up Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round. Both of his first wins came in three sets and before defeating Goffin, he started his campaign in the tournament against Roberto Carballes Baena. Raducanu, on the other hand, secured the best result of the season after an injured McCartney Kessler gave her a walkover in the third round.

Nakashima has to be one of the most underrated players in the game. Also people awfully quiet that radacanu is winning now – where all the experts at now? lol coach’s overrated.

Raducanu became a target of the critics since she experienced a drastic downfall in her career following her historic 2021 US Open win. While struggling for form, her coaching situation too was worse, as she has so far split with seven coaches.

The 22-year-old from Britain has been playing the tournament without a coach, as she recently ended her partnership with Vladimir Platenik just after two weeks. She has also faced criticism due to her off-court earnings through lucrative sponsorship deals with major brands.

Kyrgios, who returned to tennis after 18 months at the Brisbane International this year, too participated at the Miami Open and secured his first win in over two years. He beat Mackenzie McDonald in the first round and was knocked out of the second round with a straight-set defeat to Karen Khachanov.

Emma Raducanu aims to remain focused on her match no matter the situation

It’s the first time Emma Raducanu won three consecutive matches at a tournament since last year’s Wimbledon. At SW19, Raducanu’s campaign was ended by Lulu Sun.

Since then, Raducanu struggled to reach even the third round. Raducanu, following her Miami Open third-round win, has set up a fourth-round clash with good friend Amanda Anisimova, who snapped Mirra Andreeva‘s 13-match win streak with a three-set win.

It’s never easy when you’re playing someone that you suspect there might be something wrong with. You need to just try and stay focused and not let up because in those situations it’s really difficult to control your side of the court. I think I did that really well.

Emma Raducanu said during her on-court interview

Before the Miami Open, Raducanu suffered three consecutive defeats in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Doha before ending the streak in Dubai. She then kick-started her Sunshine Double campaign, but was knocked out of the first round at Indian Wells.

Emma Raducanu expecting tough match in fourth round

Raducanu is 1-0 against Amanda Anisimova, having won their clash in the Australian Open second round. After her third-round win and without knowing who her next opponent between Mirra Andreeva and Anisimova would be, Raducanu said she is expecting nothing less than a difficult match in the fourth round.

[Anisimova and Andreeva] are both top players, both have won [WTA 1000 titles] this season. Both are in amazing form. It’s going to be an incredibly difficult match for me.

Emma Raducanu said during her on-court interview

Anisimova lifted her career’s best title at the 2025 Qatar Open when she defeated Jelena Ostapenko to bag her first WTA 1000 title. She has so far won three titles in her career, while Raducanu is still chasing her second title since her 2021 US Open win.
