Nick Kyrgios and Casper Ruud have buried their hatchet as they teamed up for a doubles match at the World Tennis League which is underway in Abu Dhabi. When a user on X criticized Kyrgios for slamming Ruud at first and then taking a U-turn, he received a scathing remark from the Aussie.

Following the doubles match, Kyrgios took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post on Ruud, as he said it was an ‘absolute pleasure’ playing alongside the Norwegian. Ruud in turn replied, ‘Fire & Ice’ in the comment section.

A user reacted to Kyrgios’ post and shared on X a controversial remark the 29-year-old made about Ruud’s mom. The user claimed Kyrgios is one of those people who ‘trash talks someone online’ but when he meets that person, he ‘immediately backs down’.

You 100% the person who’s not capable of doing anything elite physically and trash talks elite athletes and probably still lives in his mums basement.

Kyrgios was done yet. In another tweet, he explained that though he and Ruud censured each other in the past, things change as time passes.

Also – Casper and I have had a lot of chats within the last couple years. We were definitely on horrible terms but people grow up and change. As Casper said tonight as rivals we weren’t expecting it lol.

Kyrgios, who has contemplated retirement while he was still on the sidelines, will be playing his first official match at the Brisbane International next year. He is convinced that after making his return, he will be playing to his full potential.

It was very, very hard because I was playing the best tennis of my life. It’s been about 16 months since my surgery, and I’ve done everything the right way- no shortcuts, just rehab and hard work. I’ve put myself in the best position I can, and now I’ll let my tennis do the talking.

Nick Kyrgios told the Telecom Asia Sport

Kyrgios last played at the 2023 Stuttgart Open. He hasn’t yet won a Major in singles but reached the final at the 2022 Wimbledon.
