Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios was left disappointed with the criticism for Pedro Cachin as the Argentine player asked Rafael Nadal for his shirt at the net during the Madrid Open. As a renowned tennis commentator said he did not like what Cachin did, Kyrgios came to his colleague’s defense as he explained how it was a completely normal phenomenon.

It all started with Cachin asking for a shirt after he lost to the 22-time Grand Slam champion in the third round at the ATP Masters tournament. The Argentine player humbly requested Nadal to give him something as a souvenir and the Spaniard rushed to grab a shirt for his bag.

Kyrgios also cited examples of other sports where players ask for shirts or souvenirs from their opponents. The Australian then signed off claiming the commentator would not understand.

Why? NBA players, soccer players do it all the time? It’s a memory, an experience that took a life time of work and that less than 1% of humans get to. You wouldn’t understand.
Nick Kyrgios wrote in reponse to the post criticizing Pedro Cachin.

Fans also felt that there was no problem in the act as Cachin would not get another chance to play against Rafael Nadal. Check out some of the fans’ reactions.

It is worth mentioning that Nadal is in the last stage of his career. The 37-year-old has hinted that this might be his last season on the tour. This has led to the younger generation of tennis players wanting to make the most of the time Nadal is actively competing on the tour.
