- Nick Kyrgios showcased a $400,000 Lamborghini in response to a fan's question about dealing with negativity.
- He has faced criticism for his behavior on and off the court, including comments about fellow players and anti-doping agencies.
- Kyrgios has played only seven singles matches since 2022, losing six, and plans to return to the Australian Open next year.
Nick Kyrgios is a controversial figure in the tennis world thanks to his on-court conduct, comments, and jibes at his colleagues, as well as the fans. The phrase of wearing his heart on his sleeve very well applies to the Aussie, as he minces no words while giving opinions and often acts on his impulse while playing, having thrown tantrums in the past.
He is someone who always finds himself in headlines, even when he is not competing. In 2024 and 2025, Kyrgios repeatedly censured World No.2 Jannik Sinner and the tennis anti-doping agencies for their handling of the four-time Grand Slam champion’s case.
Kyrgios also slammed those who questioned the need for the Battle of the Sexes, where he defeated women’s World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka. In short, Kyrgios has to frequently deal with hate and abusive comments from the fans, most of whom just can’t tolerate him and his statements. So how does Kyrgios deal with the hate? One fan asked him on Instagram story, “How do you push past the negativity?“
To this, Kyrgios simply posted a picture of himself posing in front of a $400,000 Lamborghini Urus and wrote, “Lol” as a caption.

Kyrgios has so far featured in two tournaments this year. He played singles at the Brisbane International, where he suffered a first-round exit with a straight-set defeat at the hands of Aleksandar Kovacevic.
Desirae Krawczyk on Nick Kyrgios’ behavior during the Australian Open
Apart from singles, Nick Kyrgios also played doubles alongside fellow Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis in the Brisbane International. After knocking out Matthew Ebden and Rajeev Ram, the pair lost to Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul.

Kyrgios then deemed it best not to play singles at the Australian Open and instead, again teamed up with Kokkinakis in doubles and played mixed doubles with 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez.
After eliminating Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk, Kyrgios and Fernandez suffered defeat at the hands of James Tracy and Anna Danilina. Krawczyk, during her interview with The Players’ Box Podcast, commented on Kyrgios’ behavior during the match.
Neal and I played against Nick Kyrgios and Leylah. That was a very entertaining match, actually. I did not know what to expect. Obviously, he is quite the showman! It was really rowdy, and I went out there and was like it’s not going to be that bad. Then I got out there, and I was like I have never been in an environment like this and I was like woah.
In the Australian Open doubles, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis lost to Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans in the first round.
But to be honest, he did a good job. He wasn’t trying to get the crowd all riled up. He was actually pretty respectful. I have played with him once, but not against him. And I would definitely rather play with him than against him! We lost in a nail-biter, sadly. But I did ace him, so that was my win, and it was so satisfying. After the match, I told him that I didn’t win, but I aced you, and he was like, ‘Oh no’. It was fun!
Desirae Krawczyk added
Kyrgios has so far played just seven singles matches since 2022, losing six of them. The 30-year-old, while announcing his withdrawal from the Australian Open singles, said he will be participating in the tournament next year as well. So what’s next for Kyrgios? It’s uncertain where he will play next, but he could make his comeback at Indian Wells, where last year he gave the walkover to Botic van de Zandschulp in the first round.
