  • Kyrgios has not competed in tournaments since the Australian Open, focusing on doubles and mixed doubles events.

Nick Kyrgios has yet to compete in a tournament since this year’s Australian Open. The Aussie, even though he is not competing, frequently finds himself in headlines thanks to his controversial comments, which are not always about tennis.

Kyrgios is an avid NBA fan and also takes a great interest in debates and discussions related to the game. On February 28, he took to X to take a brutal dig at Jaylen Brown‘s ex-girlfriend Kysre Gondrezick.

An X page shared quite a revealing picture of Gondrezick with the caption, “Jaylen Brown fumbled“, questioning why he broke up with her. Kyrgios came across the tweet and wasted no time in taking a jibe at Gondrezick, saying she cannot “upgrade” to a better partner, but Brown can.

Bruh she can’t upgrade lol – he can.

Gondrezick revealed during her appearance on the Straight to Cam podcast last year that one of the reasons why she couldn’t be in that relationship.

The non-negotiable for me is when a guy tries to dim my light. That’s something I had to learn from my previous relationship.

Gondrezick and Brown reportedly started dating in 2024 and made their relationship public in July of the same year. They ended their relationship last year, confirming the split in 2025.

Here’s how Nick Kyrgios reacted after his Australian Open

Last month, Nick Kyrgios deemed it best to skip the Australian Open singles. But he chose to play doubles as well as mixed doubles in his home Slam.

In doubles, he and compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis lost to compatriots Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans in the first round. Following their exit, Kyrgios was asked at the press conference how he was feeling physically.

I’m tired. Yeah, I mean, I’ve done a lot of travel. I mean, I haven’t really played any official tournaments. My goal in the last couple [of] months was to play all these events and to get through the Australian Open playing some doubles with Thanasi. There’s no one else I’d really want to play with, to be honest.

Kyrgios also featured in mixed doubles with 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez. The pair first knocked out Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk but suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of James Tracy and Anna Danilina.

Prior to the Australian Open, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist also played singles as well as doubles at the Brisbane International. He lost to Aleksandar Kovacevic in singles, while in doubles, the pair of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul eliminated the team of Kyrgios and Kokkinakis in the round of 16.

Here’s how Nick Kyrgios reacted to Novak Djokovic’s win over Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open semifinals

Novak Djokovic is bent on defying time, as, despite being 38, he is pushing himself to fulfill his dream of winning a 25th Grand Slam title. The Serb reached the Australian Open final this year- his first Major final since the 2024 Wimbledon. In both these finals, Carlos Alcaraz spoiled his 25th Major goal.

Alcaraz came from a set down to win the Melbourne title for the first time in his career to become the youngest Career Grand Slam champion. Prior to reaching the final, Nole knocked out World No.2 Jannik Sinner, securing a five-set win and also snapping his five-match losing streak. Kyrgios, who shares a good bond with Djokovic, took to Instagram story to call out Nole’s critics after his win over the Italian.

Your apology should be as loud as your disrespect was.

Djokovic has yet to compete in a tournament since that Australian Open run. He is expected to be back for the Indian Wells Masters.
