Novak Djokovic has always been seen as a villain of tennis, thanks to his challenging Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s positions at the top of the sport. Despite that, he has embraced that role and never shied away from it.

In a recent interview, Nick Kyrgios stated that Djokovic enjoys being the “anti-hero” in tennis and has stopped caring about what the fans think of him. He also said that the Serbian is completely neutral to being liked or disliked.

Now I feel like he’s listened to that and now he actually embraced being the villain. He’s a bit of an anti-hero in the tennis world. He’s got a lot of people who love him and also don’t like him and he’s embraced that.

Djokovic recently confirmed that he was going to take part in the grass Major and stated that he had a strong desire to compete.

I would just say it’s this incredible desire to play, just to compete. Particularly, because it is Wimbledon… Just the thought of missing Wimbledon was just not correct.

Novak Djokovic said in a press conference

Despite just returning from surgery, Djokovic is considered one of the favorites at Wimbledon. He will be in action on Tuesday (July 2) when he takes on Vit Kopriva in the first round. He is on course to face either defending champion Carlos Alcaraz or World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the title clash.
