With a stellar victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Philadelphia Eagles have improved to a 6-2 season standing. But that isn’t the highlight of Week 9; rather, it was Saquon Barkley’s remarkable reverse hurdle over a defender’s head—a play that many consider a testament to the standout running back’s exceptional athleticism and commitment, leaving everyone speechless.
Eagles’ Nick Sirianni is the type of head coach who openly expresses his emotions to his players, whether it’s positive or negative. But the astounding play by Barkley left him truly at a loss of words. Once he gathered his thoughts, he described the reverse hurdle over the opposing defender as “the best play I’ve ever seen.”
Initially, Sirianni thought he was the only one to notice Barkley’s play but when he glanced at the big screen and the audience’s reaction of being completely blown away, he realized the play had truly impressed everyone.

In addition to this third down reception play in the second quarter, Barkley also contributed two touchdowns and 199 scrimmage yards to the 28-23 victory.
Saquon Barkley becomes third player to log over 1,000 scrimmage yards in eight games
While acquiring the star running back from free agency following his departure from divisional rivals the New York Giants, Philly had huge expectations from him, especially given his reputation as the best player on the Giants’ roster. Eight weeks into the 2024 season, the two-time Pro Bowler has performed beyond expectations.
Besides the extraordinary play, Barkley also recorded a franchise record by logging over 1,000 scrimmage yards in just eight games. Since the NFL merger of 1970, Barkley is the third player in history to achieve this milestone.
Brian Westbrook was the first to achieve this feat in 2007, followed by legend and Hall of Famer LeSean McCoy in 2011, and then again in 2013. Barkley is also ranked second in the league in rushing yards with 925 yards this season.
