The San Francisco 49ers’ training camp is scheduled to begin on July 25, yet there has been no progress in Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation. This ultimately compelled the star wide receiver to take a definitive action and so he officially requested for a trade from the 49ers.

Regardless of how much Aiyuk wants to stay in San Francisco, he isn’t willing to compromise on his worth. Despite reports of the 49ers being interested in keeping the receiver, after not receiving any offers from them to his standards, he reportedly is fed up and ready to explore his other options after requesting a trade.

However, as many highlighted the Niners would be making a big mistake by trading the No. 2 receiver considering his contributions in their Super Bowl run last season. Sports analyst Nick Wright also joined in the conversation, claiming the odds of the 49ers’ competing in the Super Bowl will significantly reduce without Aiyuk.

The pragmatic thing to do… would be to recoup significant draft capital for your second best, maybe your best wide receiver– that kinda depends upon the year. But they are not going to do it because they know, as long as Brock Purdy is the quarterback, he needs to have all of The Avengers in place for them to have their best chance at success.
Nick Wright said in the latest edition of the First Things First show

Wright agreed with the notion that if Purdy has any chance to win the Super Bowl, he certainly needs to have all the star-studded offense accumulated by head coach Kyle Shanahan

49ers unlikely to trade Brandon Aiyuk despite cap constraints

While talking about how the 49ers’ Super Bowl window is likely to be closed without Aiyuk, analyst Wright argued that there’s a very slight chance that the franchise will actually fulfill Aiyuk’s trade request. He believes, just like how receiver No. 1 Deebo Samuel landed his desired deal after requesting a trade a year ago, so will Aiyuk.

The Niners are not going to trade Brandon Aiyuk cause’ they can’t afford to trade Brandon Aiyuk… even though to clean up their books and get draft capital, they should do it, they can’t because they don’t have that force multiplier quarterback.

He backed his argument by saying the reason why the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs were able to trade their star wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Tyreek Hill respectively, is because they have quarterbacks capable of carrying the entire offense on their shoulders, however, the Niners do not have that luxury.
