Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are on the brink of losing out on a playoff berth. A disappointing outcome as they were preseason favorites to try to win the Super Bowl. Analyst Nick Wright though, was one from the opposite camp who always called out the superstar quarterback.
He along with football fans and analysts have noticed how first Robert Saleh was fired. The blame was thrown in Rodgers’ direction even though he denied any involvement. There were questions if the 40-year-old was wielding too much power in the franchise.
It became worse when his friend Davante Adams came in via trade only for Mike Williams to leave a while later- after not being a part of the starting roster anymore. Many felt Rodgers’ criticism fueled both those moves. Nick Wright noticing all this took to his podcast, What’s Wright? With Nick Wright to give his view.
“Aaron Rodgers retiring has nothing to do with the fact they’ve gotta cut him. He’s a bad, aging, injured, distracted player who has sucked all of the life out of that building.”

The fact that Wright asks the Jets to cut Aaron Rodgers stems from his belief that quarterback is a shell of his former self. With the quarterback stating his intentions of coming back next season, it will stunt the team’s future more than it already has.
Nick Wright feels cutting Aaron Rodgers is necessary before hiring new head coach
The New York Jets have a few stud pieces to build on after Aaron Rodgers retires. WR Garrett Wilson, DT Quinnen Williams, CB Sauce Gardner are pieces for the future. Along with them, this year’s first round pick Olu Fashanu has a very high upside.
The four-time NFL MVP has also thrown his weight around interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. But whether Woody Johnson wants to keep him or hire a new head coach in the offseason remains unclear. Nick Wright wants the owner to consider these points before taking that decision.
Wright added that with the current form, the New York Jets are likely to pick high up in next year’s draft. That gives the team another future building block. But to make the most out of their potential, they need a new head coach who can instill their new system. For that, he believes they should cut bait with the entire Aaron Rodgers experiment.
