Dak Prescott is going to be the one name in the conversations of almost the entire NFL world in the coming times. He is the quarterback that everyone is observing due to his contract situation. With only a season to go before he is a free agent, the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones are under pressure to renew his deal. But as it hasn’t happened so far, analyst Nick Wright has a prediction.
He was and his panel were discussing Dak Prescott‘s recent words suggesting he won’t have any fear of playing for another franchise. Nick Wright added these words to the discussion;
He's alerting the Cowboys, 'I am not emotionally tied that I have to be here'. There's 44 days until the Cowboys open their season. If they do not get a deal done before the first game, he's not gonna be their quarterback next year. Because someone will outbid them. The price is only going to go up. Might as well actually hit the open market. This is his last year with the Cowboys.Nick Wright said
Wright was clear that the Cowboys are losing time. Now with only 44 days left until the season starts, they should hurry. His logic is that if the Dallas Cowboys do not sign him to an extension before the first snap of the regular season, they will lose him, as every network that talks about the NFL will discuss this more intensively. It will also leave the door open for other teams to talk to him.
Nick Wright feels that Dak Prescott should be sure by then that Jerry Jones may not want him to continue. Even if he has reiterated that he wants the All-Pro to stay. The analyst feels Prescott will leverage his situation and move out.
Dak Prescott has leverage on his side with recent QB deals
Before everyone woke up this morning, Dak Prescott was expecting a salary in the range of approximately $50 million per year. But since then, Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love have signed massive extensions of their own. To compare apples to apples, the Miami Dolphins QB has a similar playoff experience as Prescott with no wins.

But Jordan Love received a massive extension despite only playing one full season. However, the two are at least half a decade younger than the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Therefore, they have more upside. That said, it should be a matter of concern for Jerry Jones as it is likely that his quarterback will demand to at least match Love.
Day by day Dak Prescott’s contract situation is becoming pricier than ever. If Jerry Jones balks, Nick Wright might be right at the end of the day. The All-Pro could leave Dallas and wear a different jersey next season.
