First Things First panelist Nick Wright isn’t all worried about Caleb Williams despite his dismal start as the quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Despite the team win, Williams became the second quarterback to attempt more than 25+ passes for less than 100 yards in his career debut.
The Chicago Bears’ defense and special teams came together to come back from a 17-0 trail to defeat the Tennessee Titans in their Week 1 game. The offensive linemen combined for a total of 148 yards, an overall disappointing performance.
Amidst this, Wright feels confident that Williams is the promised player who will add value to the Bears’ offense in the coming weeks. He feels that Williams cannot be judged by a single day’s statistics, throwing back to the rookie’s promises to be better. Wright further pointed out that he feels a bit happy about the Bears as they have come to winning ways, without depending on the QB to shine.
No, I worried about Caleb? No! Worried about the Bears? I feel better about the Bears. We never have had a rookie QB making the Super Bowl. We had three second-year quarterbacks recently win a Super Bowl: Tom Brady, Russ, and Big Ben. What did all of they have in common, kick**s awesome defenses, looks like the Bears have that.Nick Wright said
Wright pointed attention towards the fact Williams is the first NFL No. 1 overall drafted QB to win their debut game since 2002. When the likes of Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, and Jared Goff failed to do so, Williams achieved that feat. Wright added that two-time Super Bowl champion John Elway had a worse start, completing only one of eight passes for 14 yards and sacked four times in his debut game.

Kevin Wildes called out Wright for his statement by throwing another statistic. This graphic showed that the Titans QB had throws that were far more beneficial for the Bears than Williams’ throws. All said and done, the Chicago Bears will need Williams to step up as the fans say we can’t have a worse QB year after year.
Bears CB defends Caleb Williams after the game
Chicago Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson took pride in coming through for the Bears this week. He added that they always want to contribute to the teams’ win in any way possible. In the one-on-one with ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, Stevenson also pitched some words for Williams.
Stevenson noted that they have got Williams as much as they rely on Williams. He added that the team knew that he would have ups and downs and wanted to give him a chance to rise on his own.
We always want to be the spark of the team. We know Caleb coming in was going to have his ups and downs, you know this might not have been the game he wanted but we’re just his kickstand. We got him and he got us.Tyrique Stevenson said
The Chicago Bears, riding on high hope, after a solid comeback win against the Titans, will face CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans in Week 2.
