The offseason has been slow for Nick Wright. It’s probably why he had to stir the kettle by snubbing Brock Purdy and Lamar Jackson from his Top 5 quarterback list but kept a complete rookie, Caleb Williams.
Since CJ Stroud broke the internet by announcing his top quarterbacks from the 2023 season, every fan, analyst, and player wants to jump in on the bandwagon. Nick Wright, who is infamous for churning out controversial takes, is no exception.
During the latest episode of his podcast ‘What’s Right? With Nick Wright,’ the veteran Fox analyst, announced his favorite five. Without any second thought his first pick was reigning Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes, followed by Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and CJ Stroud.
Wright was slightly hesitant to name the 5th player. Instead of selecting the 49ers Brock Purdy who played Mahomes in the Super Bowl or NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, Wright picked Chicago Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams.
This came as a surprise for the co-host Damonza Byrd. However, Wright sounded confident about the selection. When Byrd asked about the exclusion of the Baltimore Ravens quarterback, Wright replied,
I don’t know. [I mean may be] not every single year have the worst game of his season in playoffs [for starters] … Every single year of his career. I mean they don’t score more than 10 points in home conference championship game.Nick Wright said

Williams has been regarded as the most NFL-ready quarterback to be taken in the draft. Although he experienced a down year after winning the Heisman Trophy in 2022, the USC graduate possesses all the skills to reach post-season football in his rookie year similar to Stroud.
Nick Wright sticks to his guts about Caleb Williams’ rookie year with the Bears
Wright perhaps doesn’t want to change his stance from when he said that Caleb Williams can lead the Bears to the Super Bowl.
During an episode of FS1’s First Things First, Wright mentioned that a 7-2 start to the season is feasible for the Bears.
I think there’s a seven and two start is absolutely on the board, which is why forget guaranteeing the playoffs. I’m flirting with the idea.Caleb Williams said

Since then, Bears fans have heard that Williams had been struggling in the OTAs, throwing a lot of interceptions. However, head coach Matt Eberflus revealed that the problem has more or less been sorted, but he still needs to work on the cadence.
We saw guys jump offsides - I think there were a half-dozen [instances] - so that's something that needs to be worked out.Matt Eberflus said during a recent press conference per ESPN.com.
