Currently, the internet is mad about Kendrick Lamar being the NFL’s choice for the Super Bowl halftime show performance instead of Lil Wayne. Besides fans, pop artist Nicki Minaj is also unhappy with the decision. The rapper posted a series of tweets on her X handle calling out Jay-Z, even going to the lengths of using a racial slur.
In one such post, Minaj thrashed Jay-Z while accusing him of ‘punishing’ Lil Wayne. She implied that Jay-Z snubbed Wayne due to his ego. She astoundingly mentioned that his ‘hatred’ for Birdman, Drake, and her was what led him to make the call against Lil Wayne.
Minaj further called out the decision makers for denying a ‘young black man’ what was rightfully his. She even went on to make a derogatory remark about Jay-Z.
Nicki Minaj also recalled the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show by Eminem and 50 Cents. Back then, Eminem refused to perform at the show without the latter despite the organizers insisting. He had stood his ground and praised 50 Cents for his determination. That set an example for the whole music industry.
In another tweet, Minaj praised Lil Wayne for his achievements in the music industry. She also name-checked Gee Roberson and slammed the co-CEO of the artist management company The Blueprint Group. She also expressed her disappointment with Roc Nation, who was responsible for the NFL’s live music strategy.
Jay-Z might have not been responsible for the Super Bowl halftime show
The recent debate over Kendrick Lamar being chosen over Lil Wayne for the Super Bowl halftime show has been gaining strength. People have been hooked and have been pouring out their feelings online.
Some netizens enquired about the decision-making committee and if they had a say in picking the artists for the Super Bowl. As it turns out, per a report by Sportscasting, a thorough panel discussion was held by many concerned individuals before the final decision was taken by the host city, New Orleans.
Since the NFL is a big deal in the US, they choose performers who cater to a massive audience. The committee was only responsible for shortlisting some eligible candidates. Despite that information, the internet remained divided about it.
