Since February this year, the name Nico Harrison has prompted some wild reactions from sports fans. The Dallas Mavericks’ GM did not envision this happening when he traded away Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
To this day, he stands by his decision, even though those who follow sports have mocked him everywhere he goes. Mavs fans took it a step above and sent death threats, and boos whenever he is in public.
Even though the franchise controversially won the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes, there is some apprehension about Harrison’s ability to lead the franchise to success.
He did win some praise when he traded for Kyrie Irving, as well as PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford, who went on to help Doncic to the NBA Finals.
But there is enough evidence that he had been making personnel decisions that had a profound impact on the Mavs’ overall health. Only when the report came out did he fix his mistakes.
Overall, Mavs fans are skeptical about what would come for their franchise, and they still believe Nico Harrison is responsible for this apparent mess.
Now, when he is captured on camera having a conversation with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and controversial NFL star Aaron Rodgers, those Mavs fans did not understand why.

The Steelers did post about Harrison being present at their practices and was possibly invited by their head coach, Mike Tomlin. But the real question was why the Mavs GM was speaking with Rodgers, an athlete whose views have caused many to question his mental logic.
Mavs fans set social media on fire watching Nico Harrison speaking with Aaron Rodgers
Dallas Mavericks fans have this belief that whatever Nico Harrison touches is doomed. Then, when he happened to be sitting down and talking to a controversial NFL star, known for his self-centered and logic-less opinions, they were enraged.
Those Mavs fans believe of all the people Harrison should be speaking with, Aaron Rodgers is not one of them. They believe Harrison should be speaking with and taking notes from those who have accomplished a lot in their respective fields.
Rodgers has, but not without leaving a trail of destruction along the way. Mavs fans believe Nico Harrison mustn’t follow that path. Check out examples of those reactions below.

The Dallas Mavericks are touted to be one of the best teams to dethrone the Oklahoma City Thunder from their perch. If they stay healthy, they have the personnel to do so. All their fans want is for Harrison not to make it worse.
Nico Harrison could redeem himself if Mavs win title
Even though Kevin Durant joins a stellar Houston Rockets team, some believe the Dallas Mavericks are strong on every front. Once they have Kyrie Irving back healthy, this team can overcome any opponent.

Their road to an NBA championship will not be easy. Every single one of last season’s Western Conference playoff teams has improved its roster in some manner.
Then there are those looking in from the outside, who have enough talent to upset some of the regulars. All of these point to a tough battle for playoff positions.
If the Mavericks are to get an easy path to the title, they have to win from the first whistle. They cannot afford to lose games and hope to make ground.
Teams know all too well how difficult that is, and it is up to the players to ensure they are in a good position when Irving returns. Only then can they make schematic changes to ensure everyone plays well.
Finally, if they do win the 2026 NBA title, it will be the redemption arc Nico Harrison has been longing for from the day he started getting heat for letting go of Luka Doncic.
