Nico Rosberg ‘Surprised’ by Sebastian Vettel’s F1 Verdict

Sebastian Vettel

Ever since Sebastian Vettel made his debut with Aston Martin starting from the qualifications, it has been one to forget. Even in the season opener in Bahrain, Vettel crossed the checkered flag at P15 and ended up disappointing his fans majorly. However, his comment of not feeling at home in the Mercedes powered car left ex-Silver Arrows driver, Nico Rosberg surprised.

The one-time world champion revealed that he wasn’t anticipating such feedback from Vettel, especially after driving an Aston Martin. However, amidst the heavy criticisms looming over Vettel, Rosberg felt Vettel could surely bounce back in the remainder of this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Rosberg expressed his view on fellow German racing driver, Vettel. The former Mercedes driver reckoned that Vettel needs some time to get up to speed.

I really wish Sebastian that he comes out of this low, what he brought with Ferrari and now a little bit to the first race. Strangely, that surprised me that he also said that he still doesn’t feel comfortable in the car,” he said. (Translated from German using Google Translate)

But okay, it’s a new team, and he needs a little time. But Sebastian has huge talent. He’s a four-time world champion. So, he’ll be fine. Then I’m sure that we will still see great races from him this year.”

Sebastian Vettel suffered a horrendous farewell season at Ferrari last year. And his suffering only got worse with his move to Aston Martin. Nico Rosberg felt that Vettel has been stuck in a “negative spiral” for a while now, which is causing the German to underperform despite possessing a decent car.

He has to find a way out of this negative spiral, that is very, very important. We have seen another mistake right now, that is untypical for a four-time world champion. He has to find his way out. This is very important,” Nico Rosberg concluded.
