Nicolas Jarry created history by beating Tommy Paul in an intense match. There was no better finish to a Friday night, as the Chilean showed extreme grit and resilience to fight his way back into the match and eventually beat the American.
After taking the first set in no time, Jarry had already set foot in the finals. However, birthday boy Paul clawed his way back into the match and forced it to a third set.
The American did not give in till the very end. Till the very final game, Paul tried to stay in the game. He even pushed Jarry, who was 40/0 in the final set, to save two break points.
With some phenomenal shots, the Chilean closed out the match and fell to the ground on his knees as he reached his maiden Masters final. Filled with joy, the 28-year-old thanked the crowd and became the first Chilean to reach a Masters 1000 Final since 2007.

Jarry now moves on to the last match of the 2024 Rome Open and will take on Alexander Zverev for the prestigious title. After beating a top-ranked ATP player, the Chilean finds himself face-to-face with another one who is also hungry for the title.

28-year-old Chilean Nicolas Jarry has been having a dream run at the Italian Open. He beat the in-form Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals to do one better in the semis and make his way to the finals.
After the nail-biter of a match against Tommy Paul in the semi-finals, Jarry urged the fans to come in numbers and cheer him on for the finals. He will take on Alexander Zverev, who is fresh off a win against Alejandro Tabilo.
