Nikita Mazepin the former Haas driver after getting sacked by the Haas team has now been added to the European Union’s sanctions list alongside his father Dmitry Mazepin.

It has been stated in GPfans that the duo has been added to the list alongside 12 other business people due to their links to the Russian government.

The move by the European Union has come in wake of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine that was started by Russia and has led to over two million refugees fleeing from the country.

Nikita Mazepin was dropped by the Hass F1 team soon after they cut their ties with their Russian Sponsor Uralkali, a potash fertilizer company which is owned by Nikita Mazepin’s father Dmitry.

Both names appeared on a document published in the official journal of the European Union, listing the 14 people added to the ever-growing sanctions list.”

Ever since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the pressure was mounting on the Russian driver with people asking for his sacking from the team. But even after his sacking, it seems that things are only getting worse. Just a few days after Nikita’s sacking from the Haas F1 team, he has now found himself on the EU’s sanctions list.

The reasons behind Mazepin Jr’s place on the list stated: “Nikita Mazepin is the son of Dmitry Arkadievich Mazepin, General Director of JSC UCC Uralchem.

“As Uralchem sponsors Haas F1 Team, Dmitry Mazepin is the major sponsor of his son’s activities at Haas F1 Team.”

He is a natural person associated with a leading businessperson (his father) involved in economic sectors providing a substantial source of revenue to the Government of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the destabilization of Ukraine.”

Nikita being the son of a major Russian businessman has led to him getting major blowback from the EU and the way things are going for Nikita, it is hard to imagine him getting some respite anytime soon.
