Nikola Jokic breaks down secret behind magical ‘high IQ’ passes
After recording his 13th triple-double of the season, Nikola Jokic sat down with Altitude TV to break down the brilliance behind his passes.

Nikola Jokic explains his high IQ passes
Nikola Jokic‘s genius passing have been his one of the main weapons since day one. Currently he is averaging 30.7 points, 13 rebounds and 9.7 assists a game. He is literally .3 assists short of averaging a triple double in every game. Jokic’s passing has been very crucial and appealing part of his game as he knows how to put some pazazz on his passes.
After dropping a triple-double for the second night in a row, Nikola Jokic sat down with Altitude TV’s Katy Winge to give a sneak peek inside his mind. The Serbian champion broke down his high IQ passes, including a behind-the-head pass to Aaron Gordon. Joker humorously described his thinking behind the move.
They [New Orleans Pelicans] wanted to iso [isolate] the pick-and-roll and didn’t even set the screen, so I just kinda slipped because I’m really fast, Katy. You see how I kinda ‘Hawww’ [made a quick move]… and I just try to be fancy a little bit and pass it to AG [Aaron Gordon] somehow.
Nikola Jokic explained to Winge
When the reporter asked how he is able to make such spectacular passes, Nikola Jokic revealed that he had overheard the opposing team’s defensive strategy while on the court. He explained that he quickly noticed his open teammates on the right side of the court and tried to get the ball into their hands somehow. Katy Winge mentioned to Jokic that Denver fans love it when he gets “fancy,” which made Joker laugh.

During their last game versus the Atlanta Hawks, Jokic threw a similar behind-the-head pass to Jamal Murray. In a 139-120 decisive win versus the Hawks, Jokic put up 26 points performance, making his only three-point attempt while grabbing an impressive 17 rebounds and dishing out 15 assists. There’s a reason why he is known as the Triple-Double Monster.
Gilbert Arenas compares Nikola Jokic to Michael Jordan
If a player is averaging a triple-double almost every other night, there’s no disputing that he is borderline unstoppable. The way Nikola Jokic is playing the center position, it’s unheard of.
The three-time MVP is now on a campaign to win another MVP. This season, he is a leader in numerous statistics, which reminds former All-Star Gilbert Arenas of Michael Jordan-esque dominance.
When you look at it, it’s hard to even say, nah. There’s a point where you’re, ‘Yo, don’t come to work dawg, let everybody else catch up’. When Jordan was doing Jordan, ‘Hey brother, you got it already’. Why are you still playing in this league. This game he’s playing is too f*cking easy.

Arenas has lauded former champions’ abilities on his show, Gil’s Arena, on numerous occasions. However, he has also been critical of Jokic for putting up “empty stats” that don’t always translate into meaningful victories.
Since their third back-to-back win, the heat has dialed down a bit for the Nuggets’ center. Other players, like Jamal Murray and Russell Westbrook, are also stepping up. Murray recently dropped a season-high 34 points, and “Beastbrook” also added his second triple-double of the season to help them secure a win.
The Nuggets started the new year by registering a victory in the win column, and fans can expect them to ride this newfound chemistry to a couple more wins before the streak eventually breaks.
