The Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is one of the most complete players in recent years in the NBA. He has proved himself and has won everything there is. A three-time MVP and an NBA champion. Jokic has nothing to prove to anyone. To add to this, he has a straightforward nature on and off the court, so much so that he is blunt in any decision he makes.
Recently, there were videos of Jokic getting emotional over his horse winning a race. This showcases how much emotion and love he has for his horses in comparison to playing basketball in the NBA with the Nuggets. Fans joked about this a few days ago. Given that, former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins revealed an interesting story revolving around the Serbian and his uncanny nature.
He’ll let you know he really don’t give a f**k about this sh*t… our lockers were next to each other— he said I think I might retire after this contract.

If it were down to Jokic, he’d rather be in Serbia, taking care of his horses rather than hooping in Denver with a $300 million contract. Because Jokic said he simply wanted to spend time with his horses in the Serbian countryside, according to Cousins. The former NBA player made a joke about using the money to purchase additional horses in an attempt to persuade him.
The Denver Post recently reported that Jokic turned down a contract extension from the Nuggets previously this offseason. Cousin’s disclosure comes after that. This choice, however, is thought to be a financial strategic one rather than being related to retirement plans or leaving the Nuggets.
Mostly because Jokic may be able to sign a more lucrative contract under the league’s revised salary cap structure if he waits until the end of the summer. It will be interesting to watch how Jokic’s future in the NBA with the Nuggets unfolds as time goes on.
LeBron James and Nikola Jokic’s agents meet to discuss about new global basketball league
As per various reports, superstars Lebron James and Nikola Jokic’s agents recently met for an important discussion. Now, if one were to come across this news, then he or she has to think that it would be regarding the two possibly teaming up shortly for the Lakers or the Nuggets. However, that is not the case here. The two agents met to discuss something off the court and something bigger.
This was concerning a global basketball league that James’ agent, Maverick Carter, is planning. Carter is on a mission to raise around $5 billion to start a global basketball league, with Jokic’s agent, Misko Raznatovic, having a widespread association all over the globe in the world of basketball.

The Singaporean, Riyadh governments, and the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, which founded LIV Golf, acquired Newcastle United of the English Premier League, and partnered with the ATP and WTA tennis tours, are among the interested investors. Additionally, the NBA is considering launching a satellite game in Europe.
Nikola Jokic to halt contract extension talks this year for one major reason
The Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is in pole position to decide his future with his side, especially regarding his contract extension. Because he is eligible to do so in his first offseason of his third year under his ongoing contract. The Serbian is approaching the third year of his 5-year $276M Supermax contract.

Interestingly, he is eligible to sign a contract extension this year, but he is not opting into it, because, as per the Denver Post, he can secure roughly $80M more if he waits to sign an extension until 2026. This is one of the major reasons Jokic is not signing an extension this year, and rather, he’d sign it next year.
The final season of the deal comes with a player option in Jokic’s contract, so his benefits are locked at the Nuggets through the 2026-2027 season. However, anything can happen in the NBA, especially in relation to Jokic’s future.
