Nikola Jokic is one of a kind, surely. He has been breaking multiple records and setting new ones over the last few years in the NBA. And, this season has been no different. On Friday night, Jokic accomplished something that has never been done by an NBA player. In the Denver Nuggets’ 149-141 victory over the Phoenix Suns, the big man recorded a career-high 22 assists, 21 rebounds, and 31 points.
Jokic accomplished the incredible feat of being the first player in NBA history to accumulate a 30-20-20 stat line. But for the three-time MVP, it was simply another workday. After the game, reporters questioned the Nuggets star about what he would tell his grandkids regarding this feat. Jokic had a hilarious reaction to this.
I would lie, definitely. I would say they didn’t follow the stats. I had more.

Jokic, the current NBA MVP and perhaps having his best season to date in 2024–25, then found it difficult to explain the significance of the stat line. However, one could say he is having a Wilt Chamberlain effect in the modern era of the NBA. The NBA legend, back in his heyday, used to have these kinds of numbers produced in the league.
In addition to this feat, for the seventh time this season, Jokic recorded at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists on Friday. He has 149 triple-doubles in his career. In a single season, that equaled Oscar Robertson‘s record for the most. He is well shy of Scott Skiles‘ NBA record of 30. But his 22 assists are among the most by a center in a game.
Kevin Garnett compares Nikola Jokic to NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain
Modern NBA fans are fascinated by Nikola Jokic‘s distinct qualities as a big man. In addition, Jokic has been putting up astronomical numbers in the NBA for years. So much so that, former NBA player Kevin Garnett took to his YouTube channel once to talk about this.
The former champion kept praising the Nuggets’ center, likening his performance to that of Wilt Chamberlain, the man who used to put up numbers straight out of a video game.
Joker is Wilt. Joker is doing Wilt-like shit, it’s ridiculous. No athleticism, really, slow rolling, going at his own pace. Bro, it’s not a miracle, but when you watch it, it’s efficient. It’s efficient, and it’s prolific. He’s constant.
Kevin Garnett said
KG continued by saying that because of his unparalleled dominance in every area, Jokic is the “Wilt of our era.” With his ability to provide feeds, shoot like a sharpshooter from beyond the arc, and fight for rebounds down low, Jokic has completely transformed the simple duty of the center spot into a complex style of play.
