Nikola Jokic calls for ‘reaction’ from teammates after poor performances in the NBA

Since the 2024–25 NBA season began, the Denver Nuggets have not lived up to the expectations. Nikola Jokic most recently crushed the Washington Wizards in an NBA game that set a new career high. The Nuggets lost in spite of this. Moreover, Jokic was unhappy at the defeat and demanded a “reaction” from his staff and players.

A reaction. In my country, where I’m coming from, after this kind of stretch you’re gonna get a paycheck that is a little bit less than you are worth. So, maybe that’s what we need to do. Maybe a little motivation that way.

Just after Jokic said this, he received a ‘reaction’ from his teammates in their latest matchup. Michael Porter Jr. tied his season-high scoring total with 26 points on 12 of 17 from the field against the Atlanta Hawks. Porter constantly attacked the paint, and the Nuggets repeatedly hit him on backdoor passes.

Starting in place of the injured Jamal Murray, Russell Westbrook did a good job of laying the groundwork for Jokic and the others early on. Westbrook spearheaded the Nuggets‘ defensive attack as well. It remains to be seen how far the Nuggets can go despite inconsistent form.
