Nikola Jokic wryly acknowledges Anthony Edwards calling him his best opponent ever: “That’s funny”
Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has been making waves in the NBA after responding to Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards's recent remarks about him.

Nikola Jokic and Anthony Edwards
Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets were defeated 140-139 by Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have now won three in a row. Jokic had one of his best performances of the season during the game against the Timberwolves. The center for the Nuggets finished with 61 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds.
Notably, Edwards was in awe of Jokic’s monstrous performance, just like many NBA fans around the world. Per Edwards, he witnessed one of the best performances by a basketball player at the Ball Arena. Edwards called Jokic “incredible,” saying that aside from himself, he might be the best player he has ever seen. Now, Jokic was asked about Edwards’ words after the game and the Nuggets star had a subtle response.
That’s funny. He just took off, that’s what superstars do.

Against the Timberwolves, the Serbian finished with 61 points (18-29 FG), 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals. Edwards acknowledged that the Timberwolves could only hope Jokic missed, as it was the highest number of points ever recorded by a player while earning a triple-double. Jokic nearly got Nuggets the win but it was Edwards that stood in the way.
After a show like that, you can’t help but give the Joker a tip of the hat. Despite his best efforts, the 30-year-old was unable to lead the Nuggets to victory. Edwards, who ended with 34 points (12–25 FG), 10 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1 steal, was a major contributor to that. The fourth quarter and the two overtime sessions accounted for 24 of the 34 scores.
Nuggets HC Michael Malone had words for Nikola Jokic’s monstrous performance
In the NBA, Nikola Jokic’s outstanding effort versus the Minnesota Timberwolves made a lasting impression. Jokic recorded the best triple-double point total in league history with 61 points. This broke records previously set by James Harden and Luka Doncic. However, Jokic’s HC Michael Malone had huge words for his starman after witnessing one of the best games of his career.
Nikola came up to me after the third quarter and said, ‘Coach, I’m good. Leave me in there. I don’t want to come out. Let me just keep playing,’ He was in a good rhythm, obviously, 61 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds, 2 steals. The guy is Superman.
Michael Malone said
Because of his accomplishments, Jokic is now considered to be one of the best NBA players. Throughout the league’s history, there were 91 games in which a player scored 60 points, as well as many games with high assists and rebounds. Jokic is now just the second player after Wilt Chamberlain in the 1967–68 season to achieve all three milestones in a single season.
Nikola Jokic opened up on Russell Westbrook’s missed layup against the Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 140-139 at home on Tuesday, a devastating loss. Nikola Jokic gave his perspective on the move that ultimately determined the outcome of the game as he reflected on its closing stages.
Russell Westbrook grabbed the ball with 14 seconds remaining in the shot clock and the Nuggets were ahead by one. Instead of waiting for a foul, he attacked the basket. The Timberwolves had an opportunity to answer after his layup effort was unsuccessful.
It was a layup. It was a two-on-one. I think it was the right decision.

Westbrook fouled Timberwolves’ Nickeil Alexander-Walker after he received an open look during the subsequent play. He made both free throws to give the Timberwolves the victory. Aside from this, with a 47-29 record, the Nuggets are still third in the Western Conference rankings despite the defeat.
The Los Angeles Lakers have an opportunity to match their record in their upcoming game, though, as they have one game left to play.
