ATP Munich Open 2021: Nikoloz Basilashvili claims second title of the season; defeats Jan-Lennard Struff in the final

Nikoloz Basilashvili claimed the second title of his season, as he defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in the finals of the Munich Open on Sunday. The Georgian won in straight sets and has continued his good start to the season. The veteran won the Qatar Open 2021 in March, and defeated Roger Federer in the quarterfinals.
Basilashvili was dominant throughout the week in Munich, and claimed the title, without even dropping a single set. The Georgian defeated the likes of Casper Ruud, Norbert Gombos this week in Munich. He entered the tournament as the fifth seed, and was up against the home favorite, Jan-Lennard Struff in the finals, who was the seventh seed.
Nikoloz Basilashvili wins in straight sets
Nikoloz Basilashvili won the final in straight sets. The final score-line read, 6-4 and 7-6 in favor of the Georgian. The second set was a close call, as it went all the way down to the tiebreaker. However, the experienced campaigner held his nerve and won the tiebreaker, 7-5.
Jan-Lennard Struff served better, and had 13 aces to his name, compared to Basilashvili’s six aces. The latter had two break point opportunities, and he managed to convert one of them in the first set. On the other hand, the German had only one break point opportunity, which he failed to convert.
The Georgian won 76 points, compared to Struff’s tally of 62 points. Basilashvili’s most impressive stat was his % win on second serve. He won 75% of his points on second serve, compared to the German’s total of 63%.
