“Bronny better than the number 2 pick!” – No.2 pick Alex Sarr’s 0-point outing has fans comparing him with Bronny James
Bronny James has certainly fared better than what Alex Sarr put up today.
Alex Sarr and Bronny James
So far in the Summer League, Bronny James has come under a lot of criticism due to his inefficient scoring. The Los Angeles Lakers rookie has gone 0-14 from the three-point line and has not scored more than 8 points in any game so far. That performance from a No. 55 overall pick suggests he will need development. However, when the No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr had a game not worth talking about, fans turned on him.
The Washington Wizards rookie has also not been having a Summer League worth highlighting. His inefficient scoring was deemed to be a matter of rust more than a lack of ability. However, in today’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, the 7-foot Frenchman scored 0 points. He went 0-7 from the three and 0-15 from the field. On top of that, he missed both of his free throws. His other stats were good from a Summer League perspective, but the sheer lack of scoring was appalling.
After all, he is the No. 2 overall pick. A player in whom the Wizards have invested with their lottery pick to lead them into a new era. The least he could do was score at least a few shots from the field and at least one of his free throws.
But his stat line looked woeful by any standards. For a player who grabbed 9 rebounds and swatted 3 shots, the least a fan of the game could expect was at least a few points. His lack of scoring ultimately denied the Washington Wizards a win.
Fans have been giving Bronny James a pass after this Alex Sarr performance
With this performance, fans of the game instantly gave Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James the pass. After all, he was in a disjointed college program that did not develop his skills. So, he needs a lot of development before he can contribute to his ability. On the other hand, fans could not comprehend a No. 2 overall pick to have such a night. It added to the notion that this year’s draft was probably the weakest in a long time.
They voiced their opinions on social media when news of this appalling performance reached the internet. Check out some of those comments below:
It might be just plain rustiness or a lack of focus. But even then, this was the Summer League of all places. The NBA is a lot harder to deal with for any player. There is a reason why many do not make it. Only time will tell if he does become a decent player in the league.
