Raiders quarterbacks are falling like flies. Aidan O’Connell’s day in Miami ended early, after a late challenge from a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defender.

The Raiders faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their Week 14 fixture with only one aim in mind: to finally secure their third win of the season. O’Connell looked shaky from the first whistle, missing passes, fumbling a snap, and throwing an interception.

Despite the hiccups, O’Connell quarterback sneaked into the Buccaneers’ end zone to score the Raiders’ only touchdown of the day. By the time the third quarter rolled in, the Raiders had reduced the deficit to just four until the final moments.

After Mayfield turned the ball over to the Raiders, the Vegas team had a great chance to take the lead. However, on third and ten he was chased down by the Buccaneers’ blitz, which forced him to the sideline and throw the ball away. The pass reached wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, but the referee judged it incomplete.

Meanwhile, O’Connell was down on the ground in pain in front of the Buccaneers dugout. The replay showed Bucs defensive end Calijah Kancey pushed the former fourth-round pick.

Football fans surprised with referee for not penalizing Buccaneers’ defender for the late hit on Aidan O’Connell

Kancey’s hit was late, which made O’Connell fall awkwardly. The medical team rushed to the spot, and after initial treatment, they put an air cast on the 26-year-old’s left leg before carting him away.

The referee, on the other hand, did not find anything wrong with Kancey’s challenge. Football fans on social media were shocked to see the officials were cool by letting Kancey off the hook.

Desmond Ridder replaced O’Connell for the remainder of the game but barely made any impact. The Buccaneers pulled away with multiple touchdowns. First Mayfield handed the ball to Rachaad White for a three-yard endzone run and then hit Jalen McMillan with a 29-yard touchdown.

The Buccaneers won 13-28, with Mayfield throwing 18 completions for 295 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 picks. White rushed 17 times with the ball for 90 yards and one score.

As for the Raiders, O’Connell had 11 completions for 104 yards and one INT before Ridder replaced him and threw 12 completions for 101 yards. Meyers caught 7 passes for 67 yards while running back Sincere McCormick had 15 carries for 78 yards.
