Tyreek Hill is no doubt one of the fastest players in the NFL. His ability to blow the top off coverages has made him into the lethal wideout he has become. He is proud of his speed and has now Olympic 100-meter gold medalist Noah Lyles in his sights.
The two have been bickering for quite a while about who is the fastest. Hill has been taunting the sprinter since Lyles won the gold at the Paris Olympics, claiming he would beat Lyles. That soon brought out some responses from Lyles as he tried to get cocky.
However, when it was time to support the Miami Dolphins superstar in the wake of his arrest, the 27-year-old was right there. Once the dust settled on that, the two were back at each other’s throats, with Hill continuously issuing a challenge.
Finally, Lyles accepted, and they were set to participate in a showdown before the USATF Outdoor Championships in July. With just a few days left for that event, Noah Lyles informed reporters at the Stagwell Global Sport Beach event in Cannes, France, that he has to cancel the event.
We were very deep into creating the event. In fact, it was supposed to happen this weekend. Unfortunately, there were some things, complications, personal reasons that it just didn’t come to pass, but we were full on. We were going to shut down New York’s Times Square and everything, it was going to be a lot of fun.
Noah Lyles said
Per the sprinting champion, the two organized an event which would take place in Times Square, New York. It would have been a spectacle, however, problems in his personal space have shut down chances for fans to view this showdown.
Fans tear into Noah Lyles for canceling race against Tyreek Hill
The moment football fans caught wind of this news, they were infuriated. They believe Noah Lyles was chickening out of the race after recent clips emerged of Tyreek Hill registering a 10:15 time in a 100-meter race.
Even though it was a few hundredths off the Olympic sprinter’s best time, fans believe the wideout could have prepared and possibly given Lyles a scare. It is that fear of embarrassment that fans believe is the reason the Adidas athlete canceled this event. Check out examples of such reactions below.

No one will know the exact reason for this cancellation, or if Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles will ever race against each other. Fans were hoping to catch this spectacle, as it would be a great crossover between the two sports. But the recent embarrassment Lyles faced at the hands of streamer iShowSpeed has probably forced the sprinter to rethink his stance.
Tyreek Hill trolls Noah Lyles after canceling showdown
Pretty sure Tyreek Hill was notified of this development before Noah Lyles publicly talked about it. The Miami Dolphins wideout, however, showed class by holding off on any social media posts until the Olympic champion publicly talked about it. Once that was done, the 31-year-old receiver posted a tweet.

Hill places Lyles’ head on Homer Simpson as he retreats into the bushes. He used the meme to show that the Olympic sprinter is retreating into hiding after watching Hill’s recent 100m run. This resumes their taunts with the Dolphins’ wideout firing the first shot.

Whatever reasons forced Lyles to cancel the event, it points to a possible delay in any plans to organize another event. That could hamper their plans as Tyreek Hill will soon become busy preparing for the 2025-26 season. Therefore, it is unlikely that the race will happen anytime soon unless the two decide otherwise.
