The second Olympic Games to take place after the COVID-19 pandemic were not free from the wrath of the virus. The Paris Olympics saw multiple athletes test positive for the virus, including sprinter Noah Lyles. There were concerns that his issues may be deeper-rooted, and he may even have issues with his bronchitis. However, a recently leaked video of the track-and-field athlete has perhaps disproved the concerns and even caused a lot of outrage on social media.

Shortly after participating in the 200m race, Lyles was given medical attention on the track. He was taken away in a wheelchair, and it was revealed that he had contracted COVID-19. A mere two days after this announcement, a video of the 27-year-old started going viral on the internet. He was seen partying alongside his American teammates at the L’Arc Paris disco club. He was dancing and did not seem to be affected by any health issues.

This sparked a conversation on social media about the validity of his claim to be suffering from COVID-19. Many believed that he was simply trying to make excuses for losing out on the gold medal during the 200m race. He also posted a photo of a negative COVID-19 test, which would have been a miraculously fast recovery.

This story has caused a lot of outroar on social media. Netizens accused Lyles of either lying about his condition, or not taking the situation seriously enough, especially after his mother blamed the Paris Olympics for poor handling of her son.

Usain Bolt seemingly takes shot at Noah Lyles following 200m race disappointment at Paris Olympics

Although Noah Lyles clinched the gold medal in the 100m race at the Paris Olympics, he fell a little short in the 200m race, finishing in third place. After the race, Usain Bolt, arguably the greatest sprinter of all time, took to social media to remind fans of his past glory. He posted two photos of his performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics on X.

These photos were from Bolt’s 100m and 200m sprint races, both of which he had won. He captioned the post, “1 of 1.” This was perhaps an implication that not just Noah Lyles, but no other athlete could compare to him.

Usain Bolt successfully defended his title and even outdid his performance at the 2012 London Olympics. Following the victory, the Jamaican claimed that he was a legend and the greatest athlete to ever live. He effortlessly secured first place in 2016 as well, setting a seemingly unbeatable standard in the sport.
