The MLB 2024 offseason has seen some surprising moves so far. At the moment, 10-time Gold Glove winner Nolan Arenado is looking for a move away from the St. Louis Cardinals. One of the teams who are exploring a move to sign him are the Houston Astros. However, their chase for him seems has suffered a major setback.

Arenado has a no-trade clause in his deal with the Cardinals. However, a week ago, the 8-time MLB All-Star revealed the six teams he had given the green light to for a potential trade.

The teams Arenado was open for trade were the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and the San Diego Padres. The Houston Astros are among one of them teams who Arenado is not ready to join.

As per reports from MLB.com, Arenado informed the Cardinals that he will not waive his no-trade clause for the Astros. This is a major blow to the American League West side who are looking for some fresh faces.

The two-time World Series recently traded away Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs. This came after GM Dana Brown claimed that the team was open to trade players.

The former Colorado Rockies star had expressed his wish to play for a team that has a chance to win the World Series. Though the Astros are one of the big names in the league, the trade of Tucker and their early exit in the 2024 playoffs has perhaps become the reason for Arenado to block off the move.
