After missing out on the playoffs last season, the St. Louis Cardinals put up several members of their team on the trade. They are facing the prospect of losing one of their biggest stars, Nolan Arenado. This happened after he teased the fans about a blockbuster trade through a cryptic message on social media.
The 8-time MLB All-Star is currently enjoying the offseason with his family. In a series of posts on Instagram, the infielder would highlight the trip and adventures he had been on during this break.
In the posts, he would use the song “dodger blue” from rapper Kendrick Lamar‘s “GNX” album. This song is said to be themed after the Los Angeles Dodgers. Speculations have now risen on whether Arenado could become the latest star to join the 2024 World Series Champions.

The 10-time Gold Glove winner still has three years left on his contract. However, the team is open to trading him if he waives his no-trade clause as they try to rebuild themselves.
Arenado, a California native, joined the Cardinals in 2021 from the Colorado Rockies. His move to the Cardinals has not paid off the way he had hoped. The Cardinals have lost in the Wild Card series twice and missed out on the playoffs on two other occasions.
The Dodgers have already made some big moves in the offseason this year. Recently, they announced the signing of the two-time Cy Young Award Blake Snell. The southpaw penned down a 5-year, $182 million deal with the team.
Apart from that, they have also extended the contract of Tommy Edman. The NLCS MVP agreed on a five-year extension deal which will see him earn around $74 million.
New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers emerge as potential destinations for Nolan Arenado as per MLB insider
Nolan Arenado seems to have caught the attention of the 2024 World Series team. As per MLB insider Randy Miller, the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged as potential destinations for Arenado.

Speaking on the WFAN radio channel on Saturday, Miller claimed that Arenado could be one guy that the Yankees target. However, he thinks that the Dodgers could be the ones who eventually land him as he is a West Coast guy.
One guy that could be a possibility (for the Yankees) is Arenado from St. Louis. I think the Cardinals are trying to trade him, St. Louis would have to pick up some of the money and maybe the Yankees could have a deal where they trade some prospects… I keep hearing it’s going to be either the Yankees or the Dodgers. I think he’s a West Coast guy that would prefer to go to the Dodgers and I think the Dodgers want him.
Randy Miller said on WFAN Radio as per MLB.com
According to @RandyJMiller, the #Dodgers & #Yankees have shown early interest in St. Louis Cardinals veteran 3B Nolan Arenado. So, the smoke gets thicker. @DodgersBeat @BleedLosPodcast pic.twitter.com/dVwVLYa5Pi

The Yankees would like to add the infielder to their starting lineup. The team has seen some of their offensive stars become free agents. On top of that, they had Jazz Chisholm. Jr playing in the third base position.
Though the former Miami Marlins star did decent work on that position, Arenado is a natural third baseman who could slot right into that position. It now remains to be seen who Arenado chooses if the Cardinals trade him away.
